Michel Bierlaire is Full Professor and Director of the Transport and Mobility Laboratory at EPFL, where he has been a faculty member since 1998 and a full professor since 2012. Holding a PhD in Mathematical Sciences from the University of Namur, he is internationally recognized for his contributions to transportation systems, mobility modelling, operations research, and demand analysis. Throughout his career, he has held research and leadership positions at EPFL and MIT, and has directed several major EPFL institutions, including the Transportation Center and the Civil Engineering Institute. He serves on the editorial boards of leading transportation and operations research journals and is a member of the research council of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB).
